Each graduate is an honorary member of the Alumni Association. Berlin High School will always be your hometown high school! You are each encouraged to help our Association stay alive. Did you know that the BHS Alumni Association is the oldest active alumni association in the State of Wisconsin? It’s true-since 1871!
The Board of Directors knows that 5 years from now sounds like a long way off; however, trust us (we were all in your shoes at one time too), when we assure you that it will fly by quickly and your first Class Reunion will be in front of you. Berlin’s tradition is to invite you to celebrate every 5 years after your graduation year. The Alumni Association hosts an annual banquet & traditional ceremony. This is the core part of the 5-year reunions and then after the ceremony, the recognized classes are invited to host a class reunion party at a local establishment.
1) As a member, you are encouraged to keep your address updated on our records to stay
connected. It is easy to do via the BHS Alumni website www.berlinalumni.org
2) Stay connected among us and your own classmates at our Facebook page
BHS_Berlin_WI_Alumni Association. It can be difficult to connect as time passes, people
move away, people change names, etc. Someone in your class can create a closed group to
invite only your classmates for class reunion information. If you let us know the Facebook
address, we can add your page name to our page for your group members to find your page.
3) Choose a class representative or a few who plan to remain in the Berlin area, are willing to be coordinators of your class & are willing to be class contacts for the Alumni Association every 5 years to share information with your class. Please gather the names, phone numbers, physical addresses and emails and give to Donna McMartin to stay connected.
4) The class representative(s) do not have to be class officers or student council members in high school, but this is an important commitment to make on behalf of your class.
5) Funds that your class has raised during school is not available to your class upon graduation for the class reunions, so for your 5-year reunion, think simple & cheap (it is really about gathering together more than spending lots of money). Ideas include: only attending the banquet since the meal is $25.00, meeting during the day at the park, a class member hosting a party-the reunions tend to be less attended earlier on & as people get older, participation expands, collect a small “fee” for a ticket to enter or to begin to grow your class scholarship fund.
At your 25th Class Reunion, it is recommended that the class presents a scholarship to the graduating class of that year to give back when you can afford to or create a fundraiser idea & make it fun!
